The Dazzled Beauty Collection is four pretend cosmetic products that make outlandish claims such as "body nutter moisturiser" - unleash your inner nutter (skipping on the roof of the co-op or living a new life as Simon Cowell, anything goes).

The products are made from re-used cosmetic packaging. The collection comprises the products, as well as prints showcasing the product claims and packaging design. This was formulated into an exhibition (The Dazzled Beauty Booth 23rd - 30th July 2021) that was held in a BT phone kiosk in Boscombe high street, Bournemouth. Retro style phone postcards, based on "tart cards" accompanied the prints of the dazzled beauty products.

What inspires your work?

I'm inspired by witty protest signs, typography and wordplay. I like work that shouts naughty things in new ways, such as the leather jackets of Elizabeth ilsley and the knitted creations of Lisa Anne Auerbach. I am drawn to surrealism, making everyday objects look plain bonkers, as well as the advertising and vivid colours of Pop Art. I also admire the rule breaking conventions of the Dadaists.

What is the message of your work?

Are there more important things to address than anti-aging or eradicating blackheads? Would it be better, even magical, to slather on something that increased confidence or helped your hangover? The Dazzled Beauty Collection pokes fun at the ridiculous claims of cosmetic products, and suggests more useful beauty solutions for the modern consumer - a brainwash rather than a facewash, that conquers your hangxiety.
